Finally a band that releases a DVD that does justice to the interactive possibilities of the medium. The two Strangers discs contain a documentary and live images from the young British band Keane. In between, you can zap to parts that are related to what is currently on view, for example information about the origin of a song or a video clip. The documentary part, in moody black and white, was shot
… during the huge tour that the band undertook after the success of the debut album Hopes & Fears. Often the three band members look tired and grumpy, which eventually culminates in an uncomfortable talking session that brings back memories of Metallica's DVD Some Kind Of Monster. With the difference that the boys at Keane are well-behaved 'good breasts', that cannot be caught in a mistake. As a result, the DVD threatens to become a bit boring, despite all the extra options. Fortunately, the live images, including at Lowlands, are more than worth it. With her unusual line-up (drums, piano, vocals) Keane knows how to bring the songs from her debut album to a stage in an extremely credible way. (MS)more
