While his former friends from Deep Purple keep repeating themselves in reunions, guitarist Richie Blackmore said goodbye to the stadiums to establish the intimate Blackmore's Night in 1998 with his wife, singer and flutist Candice Night. His tough Fender guitar traded the always classical music obsessed Blackmore for a mandolin and other acoustic strings to write music that is mainly influenced by
… classical folk and renaissance music. The duo began to dress as lord and lady from a bygone era, looking a bit cuddly. On this DVD you can see and hear how special and original their music is. They are completely at home with each other and in their music, which certainly includes rock influences. Supplemented by three band members and two singers, the duo makes their debut in Paris, which is a good opportunity to revisit their oeuvre of seven albums. The atmosphere in the medium-sized theater is informal, even professional skirmish Blackmore occasionally smiles, although he continues to play and lead with steel precision. The star of the show, however, is Night with her charming appearance and warm voice. With an added live CD, this package is also an excellent introduction to the world of Blackmore's Night. A matter of looking through those silly outfits. (MR) The star of the show, however, is Night with her charming appearance and warm voice.
