Concert film about singer / songwriter Jack Johnson, shot largely in moody black and white, on tour through Europe in 2008. Behind the scenes are alternated with concert footage, where the contrast between the subdued band and the frenzied crowd continues to amaze. Musically Johnson always clings to the relaxed but also unspoken mix of pop, folk and reggae, his much-copied but unparalleled trademark.
On stage Johnson is joined by artist friends, whether or not from his own Brushfire label: such as Matt Costa, G. Love, Ben Harper and Neil Halstead. From his scruffy outfit on stage to the carefree behind-the-scenes footage of his son, Johnson is nothing like the quintessential, much-adored pop star. This DVD is proof that he is. (MS)more
