It is no longer news that the Netherlands has a rock singers of international allure with Ilse DeLange. Although she was never really hit abroad, she remains world famous in the Netherlands. Her latest DVD confirms this once again. In interviews the singer sometimes comes across as an insecure smiley face and also in the making of she looks more like a teenage girl than a refined artist. … she is during the concert in the Gelredome. DeLange plays the audience like a real rock chick with high heels, leather pants and a lot of daring. This goes very well for her, although there are times when her other personality emerges. For example, the shoe pinches a bit when DeLange shouts 'Give me some of the sexy stuff' to her guitarist with a fat Almeless accent. Ah, a grumpy ear who watches it. Over the years, the singer has made a variety of stately pop songs and so she can use one sing-along after another. In the Gelredome she reaps the praise she has rightly received for years. (JE)more
