The title of the album Eva by the Flemish folk rock group Kadril refers to their new group member, the singer Eva De Roovere. With her charming, hoarse voice she diligently brings ancient lyrics to life such as "I've been waiting here soo long, my sweet dear friend, Soo many long nights: I pray you let my in". Kadril is not a pure folk group, but combines traditional (Flemish) music with contemporary
… music. The music, played on various acoustic instruments, is enlivened, for example, by a prominent electric rhythm section (electric guitar and bass guitar). Quiet ballads alternate with infectious instrumental dance numbers. The successful flirtation between traditional and modern music makes this CD a must for progressive folk fans. (SvdP)more
