The Eudora label releases a series of traditional music from Flanders. The series will cover eight thematically arranged CDs, which will include work songs, love and erotic songs, processional music, battle songs, children's songs, dance music and contemporary folk music. The first three released CDs are very promising. The quality of recording and performance is excellent and the CD booklet is a
… delight to the eye and mind. The documentation is very good: the background information is solid and also the lyrics of the songs are provided, with explanations of expressions that are difficult to understand in contemporary language. It is even mentioned from which (medieval) manuscript or hymnbook the songs were taken. The CDs contain catchy titles: the album From love comes great suffering contains Flemish erotic and love songs, and 't Ros Beiaard does its rounds mainly contains traditional instrumental music that was played during festive parades. In Werkman, come on, various folk singers sing songs that reflect the fate of the workers' class, songs made by people who still knew what socialism meant to them.
