The Cadiz (Andalusia) born flamenco guitarist Tomatito or 'the little tomato' has already acquired a legendary reputation during his lifetime for his fabulous playing and his close collaboration with the great flamenco singer Camaron de la Isla. After Camaron's death in 1992, Tomatito continued solo. In 1991 the album Barrio Negro was released and Guitarra Gitana followed in 1996. After a long
… interval, Tomatito's third album, Paseo De Los Castanos, was released in 2001, named after the street where he lives. What is special about Tomatito's style is his absolute mastery of the compass, the rhythmic elegance and the brilliant virtuosity that is characteristic of gypsy flamenco. He is one of the pioneers of modern flamenco, as can be seen on this album: jazz guitarist George Benson is a guest on the rumba La Vacilona, and Tomitato will play a work composed by his Turkish colleague Erkan Ogur. Furthermore, you can fully enjoy the tangos, solea, rumba, taranta and bulerias of Tomatito together with guest musicians, including the beautiful singing of Tomatito's daughter Mari Angeles.
