Dulce Pontes is one of the top fado artists, and top artists always take things a little bigger than others. Pontes' latest album therefore consists of no less than two CDs and one DVD. This version of the album bears a Spanish title, but of course the singer sings in Portuguese. The only difference with the Portuguese version of the album is that the booklet with this CD has Spanish translations.
The first CD was recorded during a concert in Spain. Pontes is accompanied by a small orchestra so that her dramatic voice is central. She recorded the second CD live in an ancient Templar church. Pontes explores her musical boundaries with a choir and orchestra. The music has a strong cinematic character and, in addition to fado, draws from a multitude of influences (including classical, Celtic and Iberian folk music). The DVD shows a performance that the singer gave in Istanbul. She also talks about the special recording process of the second CD. (PdK)more
