This album achieved gold status immediately upon release. Proof that the sixth studio album of Portuguese fado singer Ana Moura has been eagerly awaited. The title Moura could refer to Ana's last name, but it is also the title of the final track and then it means 'Moorish'. A creation of the Angolans José Eduardo Agualusa (text) and Toty Sa'Med (music). Incidentally, the album only contains new
… songs, made by the best Portuguese poets and musicians. The styles range from traditional fado to pop, from slow and melancholic to uptempo and festive. Just like the predecessor Moura engaged Canadian producer Larry Klein again and recorded the songs in an American studio. Moura with her sultry, warm-colored voice is accompanied by a real modern band - apart from the Portuguese guitar. We hear electric guitars, drums and keys such as a Hammond organ and Wurlitzer piano. And it sounds like it should be this way and no different. Moura lives up to all expectations with this excellent album. (SvdP)more
