Voyageur is the third posthumous album of previously unreleased "desert blues" music by the legendary Ali Farka Touré. The Malian musician, who died in 2006, made a name for himself with his charismatic vocals and hypnotic guitar playing. The album was produced by Nick Gold of World Circuit and by Ali's son Vieux Farka Touré. From previously unreleased material, Vieux chose nine tracks, some
… recorded spontaneously between takes of other songs. If necessary, Vieux supplemented the recording with an extra guitar or gourd. Not the least artists are featured: three songs with Malian star singer Oumou Sangaré. Sambadio, a Fula song praising farmers is recorded in two versions: in an acoustic version with ngoni players Bassekou Kouyate and Mama Sissoko and an electric version with jazz saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis.
