It was thanks to filmmaker Wim Wenders that the rest of the world became acquainted with the són, Cuban dance music from the 1930s and 1940s. … DVD are singer Idania Valdés and Roberto Fonseca, also a creditable jazz pianist under her own name. They could have been the grandchildren of experienced hands such as Manuel Galbán (guitar) and the imperturbable trumpet player Manuel 'Guajiro' Mirabal. The ten-member company gives an intimate concert on this DVD in the German city of Leverkusen. A great show, but with five songs (and a duration of half an hour) this DVD is on the short side.
