José Feliciano grew up as one of eleven children in a Puerto Rican immigrant family in New York. He went in the early sixties working as a folk singer in Greenwich Village where he was discovered. The record also advised him to take on Spanish-language repertoire. With success, his translation of Light My Fire by The Doors was a big hit in 1968.
