Brazil was never known as an exporter of heavy metal, but the early nineties put Sepultura land convincingly on the map. The group was founded in 1985 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera. An international breakthrough came in 1991 with the album Arise. The same year the group triumphed at the Eindhoven hard rock festival Dynamo Open Air.
