Singer James Osterberg aka Iggy Pop grew up in the Detroit area and forms in 1966 with brothers Ron (guitar) and Scott (drums) Asheton and bassist David Alexander The Stooges. The group is imploring punk avant la lettre with frontman Pop as wild screeching ceremonies. Concerts are heady rock rituals where Pop himself more than once injures. Their first two albums, The Stooges (1969, produced by John
… Cale) and Funhouse (1970) and classics (with Kick Out The Jams MC5) sample cards from the Detroit rock. After the glam punk plate Raw Power (1973), the group comes to self-destruction and drugs under. Pop is then literally in the gutter caught by David Bowie and makes him include the album Lust For Life (1977). This he fits in seamlessly with the newly unleashed punk explosion. Pop the godfather of punk is mentioned but rather describes himself as' God's own garbage. During the eighties and nineties he builds a work of varying quality. When he again from 2002 with the original Stooges will play shows the group still nothing original force to have lost.more
