The Haarlem tenor saxophonist / clarinettist Ruud Brink (1937) was among the reeds in the lyrical style of Four Brothers Zoot Sims, Stan Getz, Herbie Steward and Serge Chaloff. He played with a relaxed swing and smooth tone. In his younger years he performed with The Diamonds, the Ted Powder-sextet and Rob Pronk Boptet. Later, he was much in demand in record studios. From 1963 to 1980 he played for
… the Skymasters. Separately, he was performing with Ben Webster, Zoot Sims, Thad Jones, Joe Pass, Ray Charles and many others. After a period of illness following his comeback in 1982 at the NOS Meervaart jazz festival, with Ruud Brink / Irv Rochlin Quartet. After the death of Sandy Mosse, he took it as a teacher at the Hague Conservatory. With Greetje Kauffeld and Peter Nieuwerf he formed a trio that a particular form of which is best developed jazz music can be circumscribed as "jazz-chamber". In 1990 he was given the Bird Award at the North Sea Jazz Festival, but he died fifteen days before the ceremony. The award was then presented by co-winner Stan Getz Ruud Brink Jr.more
