Eels is only one man, Mark Oliver Everett, who is known for his somewhat melancholy character. Multi-instrumentalist and singer / songwriter Everett, better known as 'E' was born in 1963 and began making music at a young age (drums, piano, guitar later). … was not eased and he began to write songs. Some small-scale releases followed before he formed the Eels group with two others in 1996. Their debut album Beautiful Freak (1996) was a great success. There followed a difficult period for E when both his mother and his sister recently deceased succession. The impact of this was well reflected in the CD's Electro-Shock Blues (1998) and Daisies Of The Galaxy (2000), E's were heard depressive side. Soul Jacker (2001) - with the cover a heavily bearded E - flopped properly. Beware the album Shootenanny (2003) was again heard something of the quality of Beautiful Freak. (IV)more
