Fairport Convention did pioneering work on by linking the first British group to a traditional English folk rock sound. Especially albums as Liege & Lief (1969) and Full House (1970) still sound crisp. In the early seventies rumbled into the group. Richard Thompson, with its characteristic sound responsible for the unique sound of the group, left the group in 1970. Also singer Sandy Denny left in
