Although his acclaimed band Dire Straits had not yet been officially disbanded - it only happened in the nineties - Mark Knopf heaters solo career began in 1983, when he was asked to write the soundtrack of the film Local Hero. The sparse but harsh melodies made an impression on filmmakers and moviegoers and paved the way for a second career for the rocker. He went on to write acclaimed soundtracks
