Guitarist Pat Metheny was born in 1954 in Kansas City. At the age of eight he started playing trumpet, but when he was twelve, he decided to move on guitar. Already at fifteen he gained experience by acting to his residence with the most important jazz musicians. In 1975 he released his first album, Bright Size Life. Methenys mastery and versatility as a guitarist not only made him a popular artist,
… but also a popular lecturer. Already at the age of eighteen, he taught at the University of Miami, at nineteen at Berklee; at both universities, he was the youngest teacher ever. He gave include workshops at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In 1977 he formed the Pat Metheny Group, which keyboardist Lyle Mays is the only one that has remained since the first occupation. Methenys solo work with his trio and the Group has earned him numerous awards and Grammys and in 2003 he received the Bird Award for Special appriciation. (IV)more
