The new label Caro Mitis releases super audio CDs with recordings by excellent musicians who are less known internationally. For example, CDs of the Hermitage Chamber Orchestra from Moscow, which was founded in 2000 around the oboist Alexei Utkin. Logically, the orchestra mainly focuses on works in which the oboe plays a prominent role. The Hermitage Chamber Orchestra plays oboe works by Johann
… Sebastian Bach on two CDs. Unfortunately, many works from the period that Bach was employed by the princely court in Cöthen (1717-1723) have been lost. Fortunately, during his tenure in Leipzig, Bach recomposed many of his own 'older' works and integrated them into new compositions. Through scientific research it was discovered that an oboe concerto was hidden in Clavier Concerto BWV.1053. On Volume 1 Utkin and his Hermitage Chamber Orchestra mainly play reconstructed concerts such as the oboe concerto BWV.1053 and a concerto for oboe d'amore (BWV.1055). Volume 2 (bdx1528) includes the Orchestral Suite BWV.1066 in French style and the Concerto for 2 violins and string orchestra BWV.1043 played on violin and oboe, bringing out Bach's virtuoso polyphony much more.
