Gustav Holst's "The planets" is one of the most famous orchestral suites. Much less known is that the work premiered in a version for two pianos. Holst always had two pianists play his newly composed works and they also helped him write orchestrations. … 1918. There is also a version for piano duet of the "Serenade op.20" for string orchestra by Edward Elgar. Both versions appeared in 1893.
