The planned series by Bis with the works for keyboard solo by C. Ph. E. Bach (1714-1788) will contain about 30 CDs in total. This week the second in the series will be presented with five sonatas. These sonatas belong to the so-called 'early' period, in which Bach was looking for his own style. After 1744, Bach began to revise much of his earlier work. … in his rendition of the sonatas, because they are more elaborate, with more melodic richness and decorative art. Miklos Spanyi plays, among other things, the numbers 5 & 6 from the so-called "Prussian sonatas". He plays them on a clavichord that was built in 1993 after a Saxon model from around 1770.
