The chorale arrangements and chorale partitas by Georg Böhm (1661-1733) are still popular in our time with both professional and amateur organists. Historically, Böhm has been important for his influence on Johann Sebastian Bach, although nothing is known about personal contacts between these two composers. Böhm came from southeastern Germany. In 1693 he moved to Hamburg. Nothing is known about
… his work here, but he will undoubtedly have had the opportunity to get to know the North German culture. The musical climate here was determined by, among others, Kusser (a student of Lully), Reincken and Lübeck. In 1698 Böhm was appointed organist in Lüneburg. Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen plays organ works by Böhm on a chamber organ by Anders Havgaard Rasmussen from 1993, which is located in the Danish church in Husum. (HJ) _more
