Composer Jan Welmers has enriched the Dutch organ literature with a number of organ works that were influenced by repetitive music, or 'minimal music'. This music therefore evokes associations with similar music by, for example, Philip Glass, Steve Reich or Simeon ten Holt. What makes Jan Welmers' music so original, however, is the imposing use of the organ, which makes the listening experience of
… works such as "Laudate Dominum" or "Sequens" unforgettable. Lindenberg released a CD with all repetitive works ("Sequens, Litany, Invocazioni"), with the exception of "Laudate Dominum" which has been recorded before. The program also includes the early "Passacaglia" and the 1996 "Light and Dark", that was inspired by shades of light, as we can perceive them in a church building. These works are excellently played on the König organ of the St. Stevenskerk in Nijmegen (the organ of which Jan Welmers is the regular player) by Welmer's former students Jan Hage, Jetty Podt, Berry van Berkum, Willem Tanke and Ko Zwanenburg .
