Last Saturday, the tenth Dollard festival was opened in the Der Aa Church in Groningen. This festival is plagued by a lack of money and it was therefore not possible for the artistic leaders Peter Westerbrink and Harald Vogel to offer an introduction to an unknown baroque composer, which is otherwise the basis of this famous festival. "We have the most beautiful churches, the most beautiful organs,
… fantastic ensembles and home-grown music that is more than worth discovering. But the art politicians simply do not see it", says Harald Vogel in Trouw. Lovers of the North German baroque, which had its offshoots in the Groningen organ landscape, will therefore fondly remember the CD "Groninger organ history", recorded in 1992, which was good for an Edison at the time. Fortunately, there are still cd ' s that further chart this internationally renowned organ culture. For example, Peter Westerbrink's first CD will be offered this week in the series "Organs in the Ems-Dollard region". On this CD you can listen to works by Hieronymus Praetorius, Melchior Schildt, Nicolaus Bruhns and Georg Böhm, played on the Von Holy organ in Dornum. (HJ) _more
