Anyone who thought that renaissance music was serious and stately, will be helped out on this CD by Heinrich Isaac. Already in the first piece we are surrounded by flamboyant fragments and graceful melodies. This cheerful and powerful quality of Isaac's music continues to dominate the rest of this CD, right up to the spectacular final piece O Decus Ecclesiae. The Italian ensemble Cantica Symphonia
… sings Isaac's music very convincingly and completely appropriately playful, light and subtle. After all, almost three-quarters of the music has not been recorded before, so Isaac's discography has also been significantly expanded. Most of the works are sung a capella, some motets are enriched with an instrumental ensemble. This has been done with due consideration, but also very pleasant for the variety. Don't let this CD pass you by! (TC)more
