The Reformation caused a clear division in church music in England. Composers either composed on Latin texts or chose their own language. There were also major differences between composers with regard to text treatment. The CD contains 21 anthems written in various styles and languages by 16th and 17th century composers such as William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons, Thomas Tallis and Thomas Weelkes.
