German-language songs occupy a small place within the great oeuvre of Orlando di Lasso; he 'only' wrote 95. At the Bavarian court (Albrecht V and Wilhelm V) several languages were spoken and written as a mark of wealth and education. Lasso worked at the Bavarian court between 1557 and 1594.
