This year marks the 100th anniversary of Jo Vincent's birth. In 1926 she made her debut as an oratorio singer. She became well known for the passionen led by Mengelberg and with the Jo Vincent Quartet. This quartet focused on well-known spiritual songs, which many at the time sang around the harmonium. Curiously enough, the Jo Vincent Quartet sang this 'folk music' in a very distinguished way, as
