The Amsterdam cantor-organist Willem Vogel is one of the most prolific church musicians in our country. He taught the Protestant Netherlands to sing through countless melodies, which have found their way into the Liedboek voor de Kerken and the various parts of Zingend Geloven. In addition, he also wrote choral music, always working very practically, taking into account the possibilities of this or
… that cantorij. Initially Willem Vogel was organist in the Nieuwezijds Chapel of the Liberal Reformed. After this church was closed in the 1970s, Willem Vogel traveled all over the country with his cantorij (originated from a cabaret group). Willem Vogel and his cantorij eventually found shelter in the Oude Kerk, after which the cantorij was renamed Sweelinckcantorij. In this church a fruitful collaboration developed with pastor and poet Sytze de Vries. The NCRV honors this perhaps most famous church musician in our country with the double CD "Give voice to the Eternal: Forms of Church Music". This issue shows that Willem Vogel is still active. For example, the program includes the premiere of the NCRV. This edition also contains countless songs from the Songbook for the Churches and Singing Faiths. Various choirs, organists and conductors collaborated on this double CD, including the Sweelinck cantorij, organist Toon Hage and of course Willem Vogel himself.
