For those who only put in a little effort, a world opens up on this CD. dedicated to the troubadour Bernart de Ventadorn (c. 1130-c. 1190) dates back to 2007 (and the from 1994!). And that while Bernart de Ventadorn is seen as one of the most important troubadours, most of whose songs have been preserved. Troubadours could be called the 'singer-songwriters' of the southern French 12th and 13th
… centuries. They were highly educated artists who mainly focused in their songs on the theme of 'ideal' or 'pure' love (formerly called 'courtly love'). The first track of this CD (Quan l'Erba Fresc) immediately shows that this was certainly not a prude: 'I would kiss her mouth in every way, so that you would see the signs for a month'. Anyone who listens to the beautiful music and thereby takes the trouble to patiently read the lyrics, will notice that Bernart describes love in all its kinds beautifully and also recognizable to us - and that for texts that are almost 900 years old ... The performances on this CD are also beautiful. Soprano Paloma Gutiérrez del Arroyo sings the songs passionately and is accompanied by the experienced harpist Manuel Vilas. This CD requires a continuation! (TC)more
