About ten years after its foundation in December 2003, the men's quartet Il Divo released the album A Musical Affair. This concept album dedicated to musical repertoire was largely produced by Alberto Quintero, a famous musical conductor, arranger, composer and producer in Spain. The alternately solo and polyphonic vocal quartet sings repertoire from old musicals such as South Pacific, West Side
… Story and Camelot, but also recent (re) musicals such as Phantom Of The Opera, Les Misérables and The Lion King. Surprising are the guest appearances of four singers, who add an extra color to the sound palette. For example Heather Headley, the original Nala in The Lion King, and Barbra Streisand, in The Music Of The Night. Michael Ball is also present, known from the musical hit Love Changes Everything. Special is the choice for Queen's Who Wants To Live Forever, this song fits perfectly in the 'pop opera' style of Il Divo. This also applies to the musical song You'll Never Walk Alone, which has grown into a football anthem. (SvdP)more
