With the Australian-Dutch soprano Mirusia, an artist has finally emerged who takes over André Rieu's formula for success. Mirusia Louwerse is a former employee of the Maastricht king of the light classical and could easily become his heir to the throne. Her native Australia fell in love with the classically trained singer. A CD with Rieu's Johan Strauss Orchestra achieved a number 1 rating there.
She is now also gaining a foothold in our country. The recipe is simple: you take equal parts accessible classic and pop and contrast it with a fairytale decor. On this DVD, recorded in Maastricht, Mirusia shows that she can entertain the audience fantastically. Her voice is pleasant to hear and her choice of songs is excellent: many musical numbers and classical songs and a few pop songs. From Gershwin to Puccini and via U2 and Schubert back to the Sherman brothers. Mirusia sings effortlessly in English, Italian, Japanese or German and talks the songs together in cute Dutch with a fat Australian accent. Now in a small old theater, soon for whole crowds in city squares all over the world? (JE)more
