The Leilía group consists of six singing and tambourine young ladies from the Galician part of Spain. Galicia is an interesting region: the Celts settled there and the Galician language shows affinities with Portuguese. In the album I é Verdade, I é Mentira you can hear the girls perform traditional Galician songs in unison, polyphonic and in alternate vocals. Moreover, Leilía wanted to give a
… new impetus to traditional Galician music by accompanying some songs instrumentally (for example with a curved horn, 'tin whistle', accordion, guitar), translating some lyrics and adding new ones. The group Leilía breathes new life into the Galician tradition with its lively, powerful and decorative singing. (SvdP)more
