In 1996 the ensemble Sol y Canto ("Sun and song") was the winner of the "Best of Boston" prize in Latin American music. Sol y Canto is multicultural both in its composition and in its music: the members come from Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Uruguay, Costa Rica and North America, among others. In music, these diverse cultural backgrounds translate as a unique fusion of Afro-Latin and
… flamenco-influenced repertoire. The group is based on the couple Brian and Rosi Amador. Brian plays the Spanish guitar and Rosi the bongos. Rosi is also the lead singer and possesses a very expressive crystal clear voice, which is said to be "like clean spring water: it's smooth, it's clear". The music, an alternation between original compositions and fresh interpretations of traditional songs, radiates optimism and zest for life. Compared to the previous albums "Sancocho" (1994) and "Sendero del sol" (1996), "En todo momento" (1999) is Sol y Canto's most acoustic CD. Excellent musicians and wonderfully swinging 'feel good' music. (SvdP) _more
