Although the eight youngsters of the group Aventura live in the Bronx, NY, Boston was where their careers actually began. Boston is a city with a large community of Dominicans. And the roots of the eight members are mostly in the Dominican Republic. The debut album Generation Next (1999) was followed by the album We Broke The Rules (2002). The CD cover features the four most prominent members of
… Aventura: Anthony "Romeo" Santos (singer-songwriter), Lenny Santos (arranger, guitarist), Henry Santos (singer-songwriter) and Max Santos (bassist, arranger). Not related, by the way. Aventura plays bachata, a Dominican genre in which melancholic songs are framed with play on guitars, bongos, maracas and other percussion instruments. With sweet-voiced, light-toned voice, lead singer Romeo sings about everyday events that evoke bitterness or sadness, such as drugs, abortion and poverty. Romantic refined listening music with a little swing. (SvdP)more
