In December 2003, three musicians met several times in a Parisian studio with the sole wish to reveal themselves musically, to share, to exchange and thus create a musical work that would transcend the individual. The album Toto Bona Lokua proves that this has been more than successful, which is a tribute to the quiet vocal music of Africa. The Toto Bona Lokua trio consists of Gerald Toto, Richard
… Bona and Lokua Kanza. Bona is from Cameroon, Kanza from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Toto is of Antillean descent (Martinique). They all deliver four songs evenly distributed, but the music sounds wonderfully homogeneous: mouth percussion and delicate vocal harmonies sung a cappella or with minimal, refined acoustic accompaniment. The music style is a fascinating mix of calm afropop, blues, jazz and soul. The music on the album Toto Bona Lokua sounds so sunny, casual and relaxed that it makes every listener feel optimistic.
