In the first half of the nineties the German producer Uwe Schmidt scored several dance hits under a wide range of pseudonyms. However, he soon tired of the limitations of electronic music and emigrated to Chile in 1996 to explore the possibilities of Latin American music. A new pseudonym was indispensable and Senor Coconut was born. His breakthrough came when he took care of the Kraftwerk catalog.
By mixing the music of these electro pioneers, devoid of all emotions, with warm-blooded South American rhythms, he put himself on the map in one go. With Yellow Fever it is the turn of the Japanese answer to Kraftwerk: Yellow Magic Orchestra. Fortunately, after his great success, Schmidt no longer has to do everything himself. On Yellow Fever he is supported by Towa Tei, Schneider TM, Akufen, Burnt Friedman, Mouse On Mars and the original YMO members Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi. (AD)more
