In Walt Disney's animated film The Little Mermaid in 1989, Hans Christiaan Andersen's cruel fairy tale The Little Mermaid was transformed into a story of its own with a happy ending, of course. In turn, the successful animated film led to various animated series and in 2008 even a real Broadway musical went into production, to music by the composer Alan Menken - the same as from the Walt Disney film
… - and with the breathtakingly beautiful handmade costumes and set. from Bob Crowley. Joop van den Ende brought the Broadway musical to the Netherlands and had Martine Bijl do the translation. On this Dutch cast album you can enjoy the vocals of, among others, Tessa Sunniva van Tol (mermaid Ariel), Tommie Christiaan (Prince Erik), Marjolein Touw (the impressively mean octopus song Ursula), Roberto de Groot (king Triton) and funny supporting roles such as that of Juan Wells as Sebastian's crab. The booklet contains all the lyrics and beautiful photos of the colorful scenes. (SvdP)more
