For the ever-touring "road warriors" of the Julian Sas Band, the lockdowns and other restrictive measures were a hard blow. When the band had just resumed work and was working on new material, bassist Fotis Anagnostou received the news that he was terminally ill. It was a blow that also hit the other band members hard. But Sas decided not to throw in the towel. Listening to the demos they had made
… earlier, he came up with the idea of recording two versions of each song. Electric (as usual), and acoustic, to keep the honest and pure character of the demos. Thus, Electroacoustic contains two discs, each containing the exact same songs, in the same order. This invites a game of 'find the differences'. The acoustic guitar allows Sas to scream just a bit less, with the result that the acoustic songs are almost all a bit shorter. But the bluesy riffs come out just as nicely. Even without amplifiers, with piano instead of a roaring Hammond organ, the band stands its ground. (JV)more
