Two special guests can be admired on the CD The Dark Keys by the Branford Marsalis Trio (consisting of saxophonist Brandford Marsalis, bassist Reginald Veal and drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts). They are tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano (Sentinel) and alto saxophonist Kenny Garrett (Judas Iscariot). The recordings for this CD were made at The Musical Hall Theater in Tarrytown. The compositions are not really easy to hear, they are not so commercial oriented, but the beautiful melodic lines, the beautiful rhythms and the excellent playing of these musicians will appeal to the real jazz lover. For the most part, Branford Marsalis himself wrote the compositions for this CD, such as the beautiful A Thousand Autumns, Lykeif and Schott Happens, dedicated to Wayne Shorter.more
