Never before has alto / soprano saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr. a Christmas jazz CD. However, with "Breath of Heaven, A Holiday Collection" his wish to create it has come true. The unique 'sound' of Washington combines well with Christmas songs and this time of year. His own recording was "The love in his infant eyes". From Chris Eaton / Amy Grant he recorded the title track "Breath of Heaven"
… in a vocal version with Lisa Fisher and in an instrumental version. Special in this repertoire are songs like "The Christmas waltz" (Cahn / Stein) and "Christmas Day chant" (a traditional). Of course the more famous songs are not missing, such as "Have yourself a merry little Christmas", "Away in a manger", "Jesu (Joy of man's desiring)" and "The Christmas song".
