Those who love big band jazz and are also charmed by the trumpet, should definitely listen to the classy CD "Trumpet kings" by trumpet player Randy Sandke, one of the current top trumpet players, but still certainly undervalued by the larger jazz audience, tenor saxophonist Harry Allen and the Rias Big Band Berlin. They play compositions in which there is room for all kinds of beautiful solos for
… the trumpet. They are beautiful jazz classics like "Echoes of Harlem", "I can't get started", "Shaw'Nuff" and "All blues". Lesser known songs have also been recorded like "Cloudy" (Bix Beiderbecke) and "Little Jazz Boogie" (Hardy). Of high quality are also own compositions by Sandke such as "I love Louis" and "Relaxin 'at Clifford's". It's great how the soloists play together with this excellent big band.
