In the summer of 1998, immediately after a year-long tour with the Pat Metheny Group, Lyle disappeared into the New York City studio playing solo piano improvisations. With the exception of Long Life (a piece from several years ago) and Let Me Count The Ways (a melody that was already worked out before recording), the songs are improvised from start to finish and not based on any pre-formed melodic,

The result is a successful solo experiment of compelling, mainly carried piano music with an extra layer. (RM)more
