For many musicians who have played in almost the same line-up for years, it is not always easy to come up with something new after twenty-four CDs. Spyro Gyra has no problem with that. On Wrapped In A Dream they come out remarkably funky. The opening track Spyro Time proves that the guys from Spyro Gyra, who have been working on the road for thirty-two years in 2006, are still able to accelerate
… during a heavy tune of party funk. The Voodooyoodoo, a lazy summer groove that makes you long for a beach cocktail with a parasol in it, is played on a Los Angeles street beat รก la War. The Mediterranean atmospheres of Impressions Of Madrid, which is also the first musical expression of Spyro Gyra to be sung, on the other hand, sound unmistakably Spanish. Wrapped In A Dream shows that Spyro Gyra can still be surprising after so many years. (AD)more
