Once proclaimed itself the loudest piano trio ever, The Bad Plus is known for its heavy jazz interpretations of pop classics. For their latest album, pianist Ethan Iverson, bassist Reid Anderson and drummer David King drew the obvious conclusion to bring those songs with vocals. To this end they invited singer Wendy Lewis. … Plus's solid music. For All I Care is full of pop covers and some interpretations of modern classical works. Covered pop acts include Pink Floyd (Comfortably Numb), Yes (Long Distance Runaround), Heart (Barracuda) and Wilco (Radio Cure). Nirvana was also taken over again, this time with Cobain's Lithium that got a suitable stumbling rhythm. The Bad Plus produced the album themselves and gave it a typical rock sound with a lot of reverb and with subdued choirs. (HB)more
