Spanish double bass player Pablo Martín Caminero is a much sought-after musician in numerous ensembles. He is a member of the trio of guitar virtuoso
Gerardo Núñez, part of the quartet
Ultra High Flamenco and has entered into many collaborations on the interface between flamenco and jazz. Although Caminero is in the vanguard of experimental and contemporary flamenco, he is well aware that this
… music owes its enormous evolution to the guitar. On Al Toque, he pays tribute to the most important flamenco guitarists of the last century. He plays emblematic compositions by each of them, which take unusual turns in his ensemble without guitar. Caminero himself is responsible for many of the melodies, while he is accompanied by the jazzy harmonizations of pianist Moises Sánchez and the flawless rhythms of percussionist Paquito Gonzålez. The fact that the pieces keep convincing even without the guitar, says a lot about the compositions, but also about Caminero's musicality. (JV)more
