Dominic Miller is a guitarist best known as a regular band member of
Sting. The Argentine-born musician also has an impressive record as a session guitarist: he can be heard on albums by
Phil Collins and
Level 42 to
Youssou N'Dour and
Trijntje Oosterhuis. His solo work has been released by European jazz label ECM for several years. Indeed, his quiet, sometimes hushed compositions fit perfectly into
… the label's catalog. Accompanied by pianist Jacob Karlzon, bassist Nicolas Fiszman and drummer Ziv Ravitz, we hear Miller primarily on the nylon-string guitar. We hear both his classical background (Mi Viejo) and his search for beautiful notes in general, reminiscent at times of the acoustic work of Pat Metheny. A fine addition to Miller's already versatile body of work. (JV)more
