A Love Supreme Live proves that saxophonist Branford Marsalis regards Amsterdam's Bimhuis as one of the most important jazz clubs in the world. It therefore requires a good deal of concentration from the musicians to flawlessly interpret this suite, which lasts almost fifty minutes. For these thoroughbred musicians, however, this poses few problems, although they had to recover at least twenty minutes in the dressing room after the performance due to exhaustion symptoms. Furthermore, this DVD contains a number of backstage moments, interviews with fellow saxophonists such as Michael Brecker, Ned Goold, David Sanchez and Miguel Zenon, and a half-hour conversation between Marsalis and Alice Coltrane, the widow of John Coltrane.
