Country superstar Garth Brooks was born in 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His greatest successes were in the early 1990s when the albums No Fences (1990) and Ropin 'The Wind (1991) sold more than ten million copies. Country purists, however, did not like it and even accused him of commercial sales. From 1997 it slowly went downhill with the career of Garth Brooks. His film about the life of the (fictional)
… rock star Chris Gaines flopped and shortly afterwards the marriage with his wife Sandy came to an end. Now he is back at the front with the familiar sounding album Scarecrow, which is made according to a proven recipe. Together with producer Allen Reynolds, he has again selected a number of strong songs from others (he hardly writes himself). An important role on Scarecrow is played by country singer Trisha Yearwood, who provides the background vocals on six songs and can also shine in the spicy duet Squeeze Me In. Other highlights are the uptempo songs Big Money, Rodeo Or Mexico and Beer Run, a duet with George Jones. Our favorite track, however, is the bluegrass-like Don't Cross The River, on which veterans Bela Fleck (banjo), Sam Bush (mandolin) and Jerry Douglas (dobro) steal the show. With Scarecrow, Garth Brooks returns to the top of modern country music and proves wrong with everyone who has already written him off. (MvP) Rodeo Or Mexico and Beer Run, a duet with George Jones.
